Living in Cursed Housing

"He shall break down the house, its stones, its timber, and all the plaster of the house." — Leviticus 14:45

A Family That Fell Apart in Six Months

A dedicated Christian couple with several children bought a different house. Before the move they had a good marriage and a happy home.

Within six months of moving in, everything came apart.

Both husband and wife struggled with mental confusion. They fought constantly. Strife filled the house. The children had terrible nightmares and could not sleep. The whole family suffered continuous minor illnesses — colds, flu, allergies — nothing serious, all of it relentless.

They had prayed through the house, anointed it with oil, commanded any spirits to leave in the name of Jesus, and asked God to sanctify the home. Nothing had changed.

The Test That Confirmed It

They were advised to leave the house entirely for a minimum of three days, a full week if possible, and not to return for anything during that time.

They did. The wife described a wonderfully peaceful weekend. The children slept without nightmares. She and her husband discovered they genuinely loved each other after all. They did not have a single disagreement.

Now they knew: the problem was the house.

They were told to go over every inch of it looking for anything unclean — markings, objects, anything.

They set aside a full day and searched the entire house from top to bottom. They found nothing. But they kept being drawn back to the finished recreation room in the basement, and they realized they both felt ill every time they crossed the center of that room.

They had workmen pull up the carpet.

There in the middle of the floor was a pentagram inside a circle with a dedication to Satan inscribed above it — etched deeply into the poured concrete before it had set, then covered over with padding and carpet.

Their Decision

The drawing could not be removed without a jackhammer and the replacement of that entire section of the slab. As long as it remained, those spirits held a legal right to the house.

After much prayer, they moved out, taking a substantial financial loss. They did not cover the drawing when they listed the property. The buyers were delighted with the house, drawing included, because they were deeply involved in the occult.

That was a wise decision. A house dedicated to darkness at the time it was built may not be cleansable at all.

The Scriptural Precedent

Leviticus 14 records God's instructions concerning a house with a persistent plague in its walls. The stones are removed. The house is scraped. New stones and new plaster are put in.

And if the plague returns:

"He shall break down the house, its stones, its timber, and all the plaster of the house, and he shall carry them outside the city to an unclean place." (Leviticus 14:45)

Note who put the plague there: "I put the leprous plague in a house in the land of your possession" (Leviticus 14:34). God marked those houses as a sign that something was wrong with them. Where the mark could not be removed, the house itself was destroyed.

Some structures are also worth mentioning here: buildings originally constructed as lodges for organizations that are not Christian have been purchased by congregations more than once, and those congregations have consistently failed and disbanded. Such buildings were designed and dedicated for the service of their organizations.

Point to Ponder

A house built for another master may not be cleansable. Sometimes the wise answer is to leave.

Verse to Remember

"As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." — Joshua 24:15

Question to Consider

Did my family's trouble begin when we moved into this house?

Today's Practice

If your household has been in unexplained turmoil since a move, run the test. Leave for three days. Do not go back for anything. Observe what changes.

If things improve markedly, search the house — attic, basement, crawlspace, under carpet, behind panelling, inside closets, in the foundation. Look for markings, buried objects, and anything hidden.

Then cleanse it. Walk every room with oil. Anoint doorposts and windows. Pray aloud:

"In the name of Jesus Christ, I break every curse on this house and every dedication ever made over it. I command every spirit claiming a right here to leave now and never return. This house belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ."

If something is built into the structure that cannot be removed, be willing to consider that the right answer may be to go.

Prayer

Father, I do not know what was done in this house before I lived in it. You do.

Show me anything hidden here — anything drawn, buried, spoken, or dedicated. Do not let me live for years under something I could have found in an afternoon.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I break every curse placed on this house and every dedication ever made over it. I command every spirit claiming any right here to leave now and never return.

Lord, I dedicate this house to You. Let Your peace rest on every room. Let my children sleep. Let my marriage be at peace here.

And if this house cannot be cleansed, give me the wisdom to see it and the courage to leave. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Amen.

Leave for three days. What changes will tell you what you need to know.
