Gifts With Something Attached
"Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain." — Proverbs 25:14
A Second Kind of Object
There is a category distinct from objects made for occult use, and it is worth understanding because the treatment is different.
Spirits can be attached to ordinary, non-occult objects, which are then given as gifts — placing something directly inside a believer's home without any awareness that it has happened.
A gift arrives past every defense a person has. It is welcomed, displayed, and kept for years out of affection for the giver. Refusing one feels unkind. It is the easiest entrance available.
What Such Objects Are For
The purpose is to exert a strong influence producing very specific effects:
Marital discord. Strife among family members. Illness. Depression. Difficulty praying. Difficulty reading the Bible.
Notice those last two carefully. An influence aimed precisely at the two activities that would expose and end it.
If a household has suddenly found itself unable to pray, unable to read Scripture, and constantly at odds — and nobody can identify a cause — that pattern is worth examining rather than merely enduring.
"Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain." (Proverbs 25:14)
The Important Difference
Here is the distinction that matters practically:
These objects usually do not need to be destroyed.
Unlike an idol or an occult implement — which was made for that purpose and cannot be cleansed — an ordinary object with something attached to it can generally be anointed with oil and prayed over, asking the Lord to sanctify and cleanse it. That is usually sufficient.
The pattern is Exodus 40:9 again: anoint it, and hallow it, and it shall be holy.
So do not panic and burn your grandmother's furniture. Discern first. Was this thing made for another master, or has something merely attached itself to it?
The Caution That Follows
Christians must be alert and genuinely cautious about receiving gifts from people they do not know well enough to know where they stand with the Lord.
That sounds unfriendly. It is simply prudent, and it is an area where sensitivity to the Lord's guidance matters more than social ease.
You are not required to interrogate everyone who gives you a birthday present. You are required to be awake — and to be willing to ask God about anything that comes into your home from a source you cannot vouch for.
Point to Ponder
An influence aimed precisely at your praying and your Bible reading is aimed precisely at what would expose it.

Question to Consider
Did something change in my household — praying, Scripture, peace — around the time something entered the house?
Today's Practice
Two exercises.
First, check the timeline. If your household has had unexplained strife, illness, depression, or a sudden inability to pray and read Scripture, ask: when did this start, and what came into the house around then?
A gift. A purchase. An inherited item. Something someone left behind.
Second, cleanse what needs cleansing. Go through gifts you have received from people whose spiritual standing you do not know.
For objects that were made for occult or religious use — destroy them, as in the previous lesson.
For ordinary objects, anoint each with oil and pray:
"Father, I ask You to sanctify and cleanse this object. In the name of Jesus Christ I break every curse attached to it, and I command every spirit associated with it to leave my home now and never return."
Then ask the Lord for the discernment to know the difference next time — and for the grace to decline warmly when declining is right.
Prayer
Father, things have come into my home that I never examined because they arrived wrapped and I did not want to seem ungrateful.
Show me what is here. Show me anything given with something attached to it, and show me plainly whether it must be destroyed or can be cleansed.
In the name of Jesus Christ I break every curse attached to anything given to me, and I command every spirit that entered this house through any gift to leave now and never return.
Where my family has been unable to pray or read Your word, and where strife has come without explanation, expose the cause and remove it.
And give me discernment for the future — enough to be cautious without becoming suspicious of everyone who is kind to me.
In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Not everything must be burned. Discern first: was it made for another master, or has something merely attached to it?
