The Third Legal Right: What You Agreed To
"Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil." — Matthew 5:37
The Third Type
The third legal right is an agreement sin.
An agreement sin is an agreement you make that is contrary to God.
These are sins of iniquity — a perversion, or twisting, of God's holy standards. And a great many of the problems people struggle with turn out to be tied to them.
Often those agreements are oaths — taken either by you, or by an ancestor — that were unknowingly contrary to God.
What Makes This One Different
Two features set agreement sins apart, and both matter enormously.
First: the duration. An activity sin's discipline is directed at you and your life. An agreement sin's discipline continues until the agreement is broken — which means it can pass to your children and their children.
Some of what you are dealing with may be tied to something one of your forebears did.
Second: the remedy. For an activity sin, you repent. For a soul tie, you break it. For an agreement sin, repentance alone is again insufficient.
You must also renounce the agreement that created the sin.
Repentance addresses the wrong. Renunciation cancels the standing agreement. Both are required, and this is the third place where people apply the right key to the wrong lock.
Where Agreements Come From
The root of every agreement sin is simple: believing something contrary to God's holy standard.
Because you believe it, you agree with it. Because you agree with it, you act on it. And in acting on it, you twist His standard.
Examples run wide: adultery, abortion, sexual perversion, worship of other gods, every form of witchcraft — including Wicca and other varieties of so-called white magic. The common thread is that each one perverts something God declared holy.
And then there is the category most people have never once considered, which the next lessons will cover in detail: secret oaths taken as part of a secret society — by you, or by a great-grandparent whose name you may not even know.
Point to Ponder
Repent, and the wrong is dealt with. Renounce, and the agreement is cancelled. Agreement sins require both.

Question to Consider
What have I agreed to, said, sworn, or signed that I have never once thought of as spiritually significant?
Today's Practice
Begin your agreements list. Think broadly — this category is much wider than people expect.
Formal oaths and vows. Fraternities, sororities, lodges, orders, clubs, societies, military or professional oaths with unusual wording, initiation ceremonies of any kind.
Religious or spiritual commitments. Dedications made to any deity or entity. Practices you entered into. Anything you invited into your life.
Occult agreements. Anything sought from a source other than God — mediums, tarot, horoscopes, spells, séances, spirit guides, anything requesting a power to act on your behalf.
Vows you made in pain. I will never trust anyone again. I will never be like my mother. I will never let anyone see me cry. I would rather die than. These are agreements, and they are binding in a way most people never suspect.
Words spoken over yourself. I'm stupid. I'll always be alone. Nothing ever works out for me. Repeated statements about yourself are agreements about what is true.
Write down everything, including things that seem absurd or trivial.
Prayer
Father, I have made agreements I never thought of as agreements. Oaths in ceremonies I did not take seriously. Vows made in pain. Words spoken over myself so often that I came to believe them.
Show me all of it. Bring back what I said and what I signed and what I repeated.
I want every agreement contrary to You brought into the light. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Some agreements you never knew you made are still standing.
